“REFUGEE”, PRIMEIRO ÁLBUM NOVO DE JIMMY CLIFF EM DEZ ANOS

O ícone do reggae Jimmy Cliff chega com seu novo álbum. “Refugee” que chega às plataformas digitais nesta sexta, dia 12 de agosto e será o primeiro disco inédito do artista desde 2012, quando saiu “Rebirth”.

O novo trabalho apresenta participações especiais de Tarrus Riley, da filha de Cliff, Lilty Cliff, e de Wyclef Jean, que interpreta uma versão rap dance da faixa-título. O novo álbum chega em um momento significativo para Jimmy Cliff e para a música global. O dia 8 de julho de 2022 marca o 50º aniversário de “The Harder They Come”, um célebre filme jamaicano estrelado por Jimmy Cliff. Ele também criou a trilha sonora, que foi crucial para levar o reggae para o mundo. Em 2021, o álbum foi considerado “culturalmente, historicamente ou esteticamente significativo” pela Biblioteca do Congresso americano e selecionado para preservação no Registro Nacional de Gravações.

 

No dia 6 de agosto de 2022 é celebrado o 60º aniversário da independência da Jamaica do Reino Unido. E tem mais motivo para comemorar: o próprio Jimmy Cliff chega a seu 78º aniversário em 30 de julho de 2022.
