Thundercat lança novo álbum It Is What It Is

Thundercat lança seu novo álbum It Is What It Is via Brainfeeder Records. O álbum foi produzido por Flying Lotus e Thundercat e conta com as participações musicais de Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole e Zack Fox.

 

It Is What It Is sucede seu terceiro álbum Drunk (2017), que mudou seu patamar. Este álbum completou sua transição de baixista virtuoso para uma estrela, consolidando sua reputação como voz que transcende gêneros musicais. “Esse álbum é sobre amor, perda, vida e tudo o que vem com isso”, diz Bruner sobre It Is What It Is. “É um pouco irônico, mas em momentos diferentes da vida, você encontra coisas que você não necessariamente entende… algumas delas simplesmente não foram feitas para serem entendidas”.

 

Thundercat é peça fundamental do Brainfeeder; ele lançou The Golden Age of Apocalypse (2011), Apocalypse (2013), seguido pelo EP The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam, apresentando o clássico moderno “Them Changes”. Depois, fez parte do epicentro criativo do álbum de hip-hop mais influente do século XXI, To Pimp A Butterfly, de Kendrick Lamar, onde ele ganhou um Grammy por sua colaboração na faixa “These Walls” antes de lançar seu terceiro álbum Drunk em 2017. Em 2018 Thundercat e Flying Lotus compuseram uma trilha original para a série Atlanta, ganhadora do Globo de Ouro e Emmy, criada e escrita por Donald Glover.
